Third International Summer School in Sociolinguistics Opens at TSU

 

The Third International Summer School in Sociolinguistics has opened at Tbilisi State University (TSU) for Georgian and international students. The event was organized by the State Language Department, Tbilisi State University, and the Giorgi Akhvlediani Society for the History of Linguistics.

Those in attendance at the opening of the summer school included Giorgi Alibegashvili, chairman of the State Language Department; Ketevan Kokrashvili, head of the Scientific Department of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia; Nino Machurishvili, head of the Science Popularization and Kartvelology Division; Tinatin Bolkvadze, head of the Sociolinguistics School, and invited lecturers from universities in the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden and Switzerland.

The summer school will continue until August 1and is open to Georgian and foreign students enrolled in bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs in philology, linguistics, ethnology, history, oriental studies, sociology, international relations and law.
